Through with floppy

How the warp thread tension expert keeps selvedge threads taut too

The selvedge is to weave the outer warp threads of a fabric. However, the demands on a selvedge are much higher than only preventing from fraying.

Flat, not floppy!

It must be flat – in no case floppy! This qualitative deficiency is well known and is usually caused by incorrect settings for weaving the selvedge as well as improper selvedge construction.

The correct setting of the loom is a major factor in ensuring that the fabric is not longer in the selvedge area than in the center. Further possibilities for optimization are edge construction and edge thread tension.

Farewell to slack and floppy edges!

CREALET has developed an electronic device for the release of selvedge threads, which successfully prevents so-called floppy selvedges.

Since 2003, CREALET has been developing, manufacturing and installing solutions that optimize warp and selvedge thread tension for weaving, thus providing numerous quality advantages.

Did you know that floppy selvedges have a negative influence on coating? Floppy selvedges make a uniform coating (second phase) almost impossible.

For ideal selvedges – and flawless coating – CREALET offers electronic let-off devices for selvedge threads, selvedge thread spools as well as mini-warpers for the selvedge thread spools.
