Selvedge Let-off Big Beams

Solution for the selvedge let-off BLDC freestanding on both sides of the weaving machine.

SELVEDGE THREAD LET-OFF BLDC

OVERVIEW

When weaving dense fabrics, it can happen that the selvedge area of the fabric becomes looser than the rest. This leads to floppy selvedge, which complicate further processing.

This waviness has a particularly negative impact when the fabric is unrolled and then rerolled. The wider as the fabric produced, the more pronounced the waviness becomes.

KEY ADVANTAGES

  • Avoiding wavy selvedge areas
  • Accurate setting of selvedge tension
  • Visualization of selvedge tension
  • Ensuring consistent reproducibility
  • Maintaining consistent selvedge tension throughout the entire production process

AVOIDING FLOPPY FABRIC SELVEDGES

When weaving dense fabrics such as airbags or filter fabrics, the selvedges areas of the fabric can become looser and wavier, a phenomenon known as selvedge waviness or “floppy fabric selvedge.” This waviness occurs particularly in wide fabrics. A globally recognized solution to prevent this issue is the BLDC selvedge thread let-off which effectively eliminates the formation of wavy selvedges on wide weaving looms.

Often, the floppy selvedge is more pronounced on one side of the fabric than the other. With the thread let-off devices mounted on both sides, this imbalance can be addressed allowing for adjustments on each side to meet specific requirements.

By preventing floppy selvedge, the negative effects on subsequent processing steps such as finishing and converting can be avoided. Additionally, when winding fabric preventing waviness, reduces material congestion and helps avoid the formation of wrinkles.
