To facilitate the warping in double-width weaving machines two warp beams side-by side are often used (called half warp beams). On traditional SULZER projectile weaving machines such beams are mainly controlled by a differential gear.

Problem

In practice weavers have major difficulties when forming a single-width woven fabric from half warp beams. Frequently, warp tension differences arise due to an insufficient warp tension compensation accuracy by the differential gear.

As a result, one half of the fabric will be formed at a higher warp tension. At the end of weaving and on removal of the fabric from the weaving machine, one half of the fabric – woven under the lower tension – will become slacker and wavy.

Solution

To prevent wavy fabrics CREALET developed a conversion set consisting of warp tension sensors and electronic control for sectional warp beams.

The conversion set is realized with the let-off KAST 912. This control unit optimizes the weaving procedure and simplifies operation. It also has a particular influence on the fabric quality and contributes to a regular weave structure.

Guaranteed constant let-off warp tension

crealet_checkOK_32x32From full to empty warp beam a constant warp tension is guranteed. The required warp tension is obtained by electronic let-off, the flexibility and reliability of the converted machines are improved.

Electronically controlled take-up

crealet_checkOK_32x32Furthermore, the weaving machines can be converted to electronically controlled cloth take-up, which saves you time as the weft density range can be programmed as desired and change wheels are no longer necessary.

Let-off and take-up synchronisation

crealet_checkOK_32x32The warp let-off and take-up motions are synchronized with the weaving machine. The warp beams and cloth take-up motion can either be synchronized or moved independently.

Mesh width and density

With this modification a wide range from light to heavy and wide width fabric productions are possible. Woven mesh fabrics with a mesh width of 1.8 mm to 40 mm can be produced. The weft density is adjustable in steps of 0.1 pick per cm.

Benefits

The benefits resulting from the conversion sets are an extremely regular weaving pattern, the possibility of dynamic changes of weft density by insertion of different weft materials and the use of different weave patterns with the same warp.

Advantages

  • higher fabric quality
  • simple handling and maintenance-free
  • customized adaptation of let-off device with gear combination
  • electronic setting of weft density
  • possibility to change weft density during weaving
  • varied parameter programming for quality optimization
  • enabler for very sophisticated applications
