Advantages with Selvedge Thread Let-offs
The selvedge thread let-offs are particularly suitable for weaving fabric edges in a variety of applications, for example for labeling on selvedges or for selvedges of airbag fabric and bolting cloth.
These are often woven with yarn of higher strength or with a higher warp density than in the rest of the fabric and thus form a solid end edge.
A sturdy selvedge binds the wefts together, thus imparting to the fabric a proper appearance and solidity, thereby preventing the fraying of the selvedge during the subsequent operations.
Further applications for selvedge thread let-offs are in the narrow fabric industry for electronic warp thread feeding.
